Competitions

Throughout the season the Glasgow University Curling Club will be involved in a number of competitions. Some of these are national comeptitions run through Scottish Student Sport as well as a couple of smaller comeptitions organised by the Glasgow Universities Curling Clubs.

SSS Comeptitions:

SSS League:

The SSS League is a competition organised through the SSS Curling Section with all participating univeristies entering teams. The League itself is played out over a number of weeks (details in the "Dates" section) at the Dewer's Centre in Perth. Glasgow has entered two teams for this season's league. Most univerisities will regard this as their primary compeition.

SSS Open:

The SSS Open, or the Scottish Universities' Championship, is played at Stranraer Ice Rink at the end of the season. Dates and teams for this event will be confirmed nearer the time. Whilst a serious competition with medals to play for, the Open is genrally a very social affair as it is often many curlers' last event of the season. Accommodation and food are provided by North West Castle Hotel.

Glasgow Ashes:

The Glasgow Ashes is a relatively new competition, introduced for the 2014-15 season. It will consist of a single, full length, game between Glasgow University and Strathclyde Univeristy. The trophy will be the ashes of Alasdair Schreiber's old curling brush, that was broken during the last season.

This will be a revival of a Challange Match not played for since the 1970s
