The Committee

As odd as it might sound (and contrary to how it sometimes seems) the Glasgow University Curling Club doesn't run itself, the club is, in fact, run by a small, dedicated body of members who are responsible for ensuring the everyday running of the club, ensuring that ice is booked when needed, that people have the information they need, that funds are in place, that we have a place to go after training, etc. This group is the Glasgow Uni. Curling Club committee.

The current committee was elected at the Annual General Meeting held on 7th March 2018 and officially took office following the handover ceremony on 1st April 2018

The Ordinary Committee Member is a voting member of the committee without an official portfolio. The OCM's job will likely entail undertaking any tasks that the other committee members cannot undertake or that do not fit into their portfolios. The position has been dubbed "committee bitch" but is an important one nonetheless.

The current OCM is Orla McLaughlin who is going into her second year studying Psychology and Philosophy. Orla took up the sport with the University Club and will be representing Glasgow at the SSS Open in Stranraer in 2018

The Honorary President is a non-voting committee position, holding an advisory role and was foolishly granted by a previous president as a position for someone who, despite ageing horribly still hasn't managed to leave university. It is now held by any former member, nominated by the previous incumbent as a means of conferring the club's gratitude for prior service

The current Honorary President is Cristina Marin who has graduated in Neuroscience and is serving her first term in the role. Cristina served a term as OCM during her second year and two terms as Secretary and as Honorary Alumni Convenor. She curls for Carmunnock and Rutherglen and has represented Romania at Junior and Women's level. She is currently studying for her PhD at the Francis Crick Institutue
