Glasgow Uni Curlers took the SSS Curling Championships in Stranraer this year, with Glasgow 1, Alasdair Schreiber (S), Fraser Davidson, Jennifer Marshall and Rebecca Steven (VS), winning the High Road final. They came through the group stages with only one defeat.

In the High Road quarter finals they faced off against Glasgow 2, James Whittle (S), Peter Dagen (VS), Connor McIsaac and Cristina Marin, who had gone through the group stages with two defeats. Glasgow 1 beat Glasgow 2 with a decisive scoreline of 10-2 and went onto face Aberdeen in the semi final who they also defeated 5-2.

In the final it was a Glasgow derby and a real grudge match with Glasgow 1 taking on Strathclyde of Andy Callander (VS), Gregor Cannon (S), Stuart Taylor and Scott Gibson. The game was kept relatively close throughout, however Glasgow pulled away to a lead of three shots going into the eighth and final end, running Strathclyde out of stones to win 6-3.

With a win at Stranraer, Glasgow have won both the SSS League and the SSS Open, making them undisputed Scottish Universities' champions.

In the Low Road, the Glasgow/Strathclyde of Gregor Lawson (S), Fraser Murray (VS), Heather Thorburn and Glenn McConnell, with James Whittle and Ross McIsaac playing on the Sunday, went through to the semi-finals to play Edinburgh 3 who they beat in a close match. The GU/SU then went on to win the Low Road final playing against the Mixed Team, who they beat 10-3 in four ends.

Congratulations to all who played, it was a fantastic weekend.
