2017 Annual General Meeting

The Glasgow University Curling Club held its AGM on Wednesday 8th March in Revolution Glasgow. As usual, there was much to be discussed and much food and drink to be had and our thanks go to Revolution Glasgow and their staff for their continued hospitality and sponsorship.

There was much to congratulate about this year, with a strong financial position, an improvement on last year's league performance and a high level of commitment from our new members.

There was also much to look forward to, with the SSS Open coming up in Stranraer, discussion revolved around rooms at the hotel, teams and the all important fancy dress! Teams were sorted as follows:

There was also the matter of the election of office bearers which as usually went as smoothly as possible!

Ben Fowler retained his position of President, beating Andrew McCluskey by 7 votes to 1.

Connor McIsaac was reelected to the position of Treasurer and Vice-President unopposed.

Ellen Main was elected to the position of Secretary, beating competition from Connie Lathe and Andrew McCluskey, with Cristina Marin stepping down.

Laura Johnston was elected to the position of Social Secretary, beating Andrew McCluskey 7 votes to 2, with Jim Whittle stepping down

Andrew McCluskey was elected to the position of OCM, seeing off opposition from Connie Lathe and Isobel Ryan, in the only vote going to a second round. Peter Dagen was standing down.

Cristina Marin was elected to the position of Alumni Convenor, beating both Jim Whittle and Peter Dagen.

Well done to all on another good season and we'll look forward to Stranraer and the Ashes yet to come. Best of luck to our new committee who will take office officially on the 2nd April!
