SSS Update. Rounds 3 and 4

Glasgow University's curlers were out in force once again at the SSS League at Perth yesterday.

Glasgow's First team of Alasdair Schreiber (S), Ben Fowler (V/S), Jim Whittle and Peter Dagen went head to head against Glasgow's Second team of Andrew McGowan (S), Heather Thorburn (V/S), Cristina Marin and Josh Black in the first game of the day.

Glasgow II had the first team a little on edge in the first end as Glasgow I struggled to find their draw weight. Some well executed hits from the second team forced Glasgow I to take a single point in the first end. However Glasgow I gained the momentum after that and went on to steal three singles and a big 3.

Down 7-0 in the sixth end and facing two opposition counters, Andrew McGowan made a fantastic angled raise across the house to lie one on the button. Glasgow I took a single point in the seventh end to finish the game 8-1.

In the second draw of the day Glasgow I were on form again, this time playing against Edinburgh's team. A well executed duece in the first end put Glasgow at an advantage, which was further increased by a steal of two in the second.

A big score of three in the fourth end put the score at 7-1 in Glasgow's favour. The Edinburgh team were unable to gain any further footholds from there and two blanked ends in 6 and 7 forced Edinburgh to concede the game with a final score of 9-1.

Glasgow II went up against stiff opposition in the form of RGU in their second game. They were, unfortunately, unable to score more than a couple of points, however they gained some valuable experience from their game with a number of good shots too.
